#327 Mamma Mia!

Seeing Mamma Mia! in Greece may have been the best movie-going experience ever, due to...
Preparation. We practiced saying 'Mamma Mia' in Italy, so we were ready.
Leading men. Colin Firth plays one of the Dads.
Setting. The movie (and us) are set (or sitting) in Greece!
Music. Abba's classic songs Waterloo, Dancing Queen, and Winner Takes it All are fabulous.
Theater experience. We watched the movie in a 'gold class' theater on a HUGE screen from comfy recliners while munching scrumptious Greek appetizers.
The best movie-going experience ever? I think so!

Yours in singing loudly along,
Mary

  1. Hmmm ... didn't think we'd notice WHO was standing next to Colin, did you??? :) Nothing gets by your fans back here in the U.S., either.

  2. Goodness, I can't believe that movie theater! The only movie theaters I ever went to in Athens (admittedly, this was 20 years ago) were outdoors, on the roofs of apartment buildings, accompanied by the sound of glass Fanta bottles rolling underneath the seats, the droning of very persistent mosquitoes, and the manic cracking of sunflower seed shells. And I must know -- what were those Greek appetizers?!?!?

  4. Look at all that space! Plenty of room for dancing like a Dancing Queen. Mamma Mia may very well be my favorite movie of the year - it was just too much fun. But I didn't get to watch it in an awesome theater like that. Color me jealous!

  5. Yup - lots of room for dancing, Colin on the big screen, and yummy treats. We had a cold plate with lots of cheeses, tzatziki, crackers, and breadsticks. And we had a hot plate of stuffed grape leaves, cheese pie in phyllo, shrimp, and a meat pie of some kind. I couldn't see very well in the dark and it was hard to eat while I was singing!
