#642 Copenhagen Opera House

The national opera house of Denmark is the Copenhagen Opera House.

The 2005 building has a unique look with a deep overhang, so some detractors call it the Darth Vader theater.  But I like it!

It was paid for by Maersk, a Danish shipping company, to the tune of 500 million US dollars.   The donation was entirely tax deductible, so the cost was effectively paid by the Danish government.
 Lars, our tour guide, gave us an in-depth, backstage look at this modern, magnificent theater.
